Teens- come stock up on snacks and meals generously donated by our community members to serve and support you!
Teens volunteer to help make improvements to Second Story Teen Center, while learning constructions skills and building positive relationships alongside their peers.
During the holiday break, a handful of teens came together to add plywood to the walls of the basketball court, replace the carpet with new flooring in the game room, and tear out old staging to create a new space for teens to hang out.
Having teens invest their time and give back to the Center, shows their appreciation and how much the organization means to them.
Jamal is one of the teens that volunteered and says that “Working was fun, especially when you have friends to help out. Get a little music out and you’d be amazed at how much you can get done.” When asked what brought him to Second Story Teen Center and how the organization has impacted his life, Jamal replied “I just moved here and my Grandma said I should go out and make some new friends. [She] had heard about this place and it wasn’t too far. She said it would be a good place for me and she was right. [Second Story] has lowered my anxiety. Talking with others and being at a place with so much energy has helped my depression.
Second Story opened their doors after the holidays and all the teens gravitated to the improved area- it's a new space for a new year! Within days, Second Story hosted it’s second record breaking night in it’s history- with 119 teens in attendance!
Second Story Teen Center anticipates that more and more teens will learn about and utilize their programs. The demand for their services, increases the need for capital improvement projects, such as additional bathrooms, furniture, and more. The organization invites the community to help Second Story continue to provide a fun, positive, safe environment for kids like Jamal by donating or becoming a volunteer today!
